HOMEMADE FRUIT ROLL UPS

Did you know you can make Homemade Fruit Roll-Ups in your oven? It is true! Make your own strawberry skin (or selected fruit skin) with two simple ingredients without a dehydrator.

HOMEMADE FRUIT ROLLS
Summer has brought us lots of fresh fruit, with strawberries, blueberries, and cherries when it's the season. I try to take advantage of good offers, especially on strawberries, which can reach $ 1 per pound, but often don't know what to do with fresh fruit that we don't eat, other than freezing it for smoothies.

Recently I came up with an idea to make my child homemade snacks, including rolling up fruit. At first, the concept sounded very crazy, but then I tried it and was impressed with the results.

The best thing about homemade fruit roll-ups is that they only have as much sugar as you put in them (besides the natural sugar in the fruit) and can be made in a variety of flavors.

My daughter's favorite is the strawberry skin because it resembles a "Fruit by the Foot" lunch box snack.

CAN PLASTIC WRAPP INTO THE OVEN?
Yes, I know this sounds crazy, but the plastic wrap goes into the oven for this recipe and doesn't melt. The oven temperature for the rind cannot reach more than 170 degrees F, the plastic wrap doesn't start to melt until 220-250 degrees F. If you don't like the idea of using plastic wrap, a silicone cake mat can also be used.

SUGAR CREATIONS FRUIT ROLLS WITHOUT SUGAR
Although this fruit skin recipe requires sugar, it is entirely optional. There is the natural sugar in the fruit and no additional sugar is needed to make homemade rolls. This is all a matter of taste. I recommend tasting the pulp before pouring it on a baking sheet. From there, add a little sugar until you reach the desired taste.

HOME FRUIT SKIN VARIATION
This recipe uses fresh strawberries to make homemade fruit skins, but almost any fruit can be used to make fruit rolls. Blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, peaches, mangoes, and kiwis are popular choices - you can even make more than one puree together to make endless fruit skin combinations. In addition, honey or maple syrup can be used to sweeten the skin of the fruit and lemon juice can improve the taste.
